I wanted a puppy, just for me.
我想要一只小狗，只属于我的小狗。
So I traded my baseball mitt for one.
所以我用我的棒球手套换来了一只。
My baby sister liked him right away,

And, boy, were Mom and Dad surprised!
而且，太好了，妈妈和爸爸也觉得很惊喜！
They said I could keep him if I took care of him myself.

So I am taking very good care of my puppy.

I feed him in the morning.

He eats every bite.

Then I put on his leash and we go for a walk.

I am teaching my puppy how to heel.

He is learning how to stay…

…except when he sees a cat.

He still needs some practice.

But he already knows how to fetch.

My puppy is a big help around the house,
我的小狗在我们家帮了大忙，
He's a good guard dog.
他是一个很棒的警卫犬。
He brings in the paper for my dad.
他帮我爸爸取报纸。
And he keeps me company while I do my homework.
他在我写作业的时候陪伴着我。
Sometimes my puppy gets dirty.
有时我的小狗会变脏，
Then I give him a bath.
那我就给他洗个澡。
I get him nice and dry so he won’t catch a cold.
我会把他清洗干净然后擦干，这样他就不会感冒。
Then we get ready for bed…
接着我们就可以准备睡觉了…
…just me and my puppy.
